Information
  • Are you a ...?
    Published author
What genre do you primarily write in?
    General fiction
If you write in more than one area, what is your next most favoured genre?
    Other non-fiction
    Are your reading habits ...?
    Sophisticated
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
Wordsworth/ Coleridge; probably Tolkein, though he's turned into Peter Jackson nowadays; um, I'll think of some more; yeah, here's one: Dion Fortune...
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
Harry Potters (though a tough editor would have been useful from book 5 onwards); Cry The Beloved Country; Black Backed Penguin Classics (Homer, Virgil, Dante etc); um, maybe Captain Corelli; er, Pride and Prejudice; hey, I'm running out of words...
What are your working habits when you write?
    Disciplined
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
    Ten times? Why so little?
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
Good question - to be useful, I think - that is, to contribute to civilisation's ongoing conversation about life/death/universe - and maybe have a chuckle or two en route.
    Your worst habit?
Waiting till I'm 60 before getting published - what a naughty boy!
Your opinion on the books industry?
It is a tough game, but everyone does their best
    Where do you write?
About fifteen inches from my eyes.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
Burnt out schoolteacher (= wounded hero); intercontinental rock star (well, school halls in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Leeds and the Democratic Republic of North Shields)...

Wrathers and Richard: yup, your suspicions may be well founded. However, every answer in physics sets off a load more questions, so even if dark this'n'that prove to be illusory we'll still have loads of room for all sorts of other outlandish ...

Yes, Wrathnar. Like phlogiston or the ether, you mean? I have a similar gut-feeling. I think there are always grounds for suspicion when scientific theories get a bit too complex or outlandish. There’s the example of the Ptolomaic theory of the ...

Dark matter is a attempt to kersplain the fact that galaxies don't have enough mass to hold together the way they do. There is another possibility: that gravity has two components, one which obeys the inverse square law, and one which doesn't. There ...

Gerry, my lost post crossed with your last-but-one, so… Ah, no: I never said I found J. Barnes’ vision of Heaven satisfying, only funny. As a satire (so I believe) on a small-minded person’s aspirations to eternity, I find it hard to take it ...

Hello again, everyone. OFP: I was just thinking your 'perpetual winning poker hands and free drinks' brings up to the topic of potential boredom which, coincidentally, is dealt with extremely well in the chapter of 'A History of the World in 10.5 ...

I think of death as having two possibie outcomes: 1) We are only matter and therefore our bodies become something else (or many things) so then that isn't the end - that's a tree, or a blade of grass, prefably not a maggot, etc... 2) We are more ...

About

In December 2010 my biography of Wellesley Tudor Pole, 'The Two Worlds of Wellesley Tudor Pole', was published by Starseed Publications/Lorian Press, U.S.A. - and is available at:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Two-Worlds-Wellesley-Tudor-Pole/dp/0979170060/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295006536&sr=1-1
and at:

The opportunity for publication arose out of a website I put up in 2008: http://wellesleytudorpole.com/

Since then I have put up another website: http://gerryfenge.com/ which can tell you plenty more, if you wish. Indeed, you are invited to visit should the whim take you.

Hi Gerry. I have been thinking of you!!! I'm going to see Ed Tudor Pole tomorrow night - (if you've heard of him?) A bit of punk at the local pub! Not sure if he's a relation to Wellesley but am looking forward to it... :]
