Drawn as a bit of practice for that 'concept art' style. He's not great, but he does the job!

Aww, you can do marker stuff... I so admire people who can work with markers. Great stuff!

Thanks! :-) One thing I love about it, is that it can retain some of the energy you get from a 'quick sketch' but have the polish of something more finished/refined, so to speak. ;-)

That's very true. What markers do you use? I'd love to invest in a set, but have no idea where to start (I know prismacolor are very good - I use their pencils, but have to get them shipped in from the US). Any brands you'd recommend?

Best ones I use (as you need very little to get started, really):

Also a blender (Handy, but NOT necessity):

If you want to really go fancy, you can get the marker air system. It's reasonably cheap (Again, NOT a necessity. Just handy if you get into it, and want that extra bit of polish for backgrounds):

I don't work for letraset, by the way lol! ;-) I just discovered recently, after years of buying markers at ridiculous prices in the art shops, that I could just get them off the website considerably cheaper.

Also, the best book I've read for teaching marker illustration techniques... (Certainly for that quick concept style): Doug Chiang's 'Mechanika'. Bought it recently, and wish it had been around back when I was learning this stuff for Product Design. It's a fantastic book.

    Hope that helps! ;-)
