    Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through

    I've just had a great weekend at the Festival in York, and I wanted to keep in touch with people I met there. I work from home in Islington, and I play the oboe & cor anglais when I'm not reading books.

    Hi Jane, Brecon Buff is (I think) the breed of geese following you around the car park on Friday afternoon - "you brought pets" was my suggestion.
    As for Frome Festival, it's a closely kept secret - at least from me and I'm only 7 miles away. Then last year it clashed with Winchester Conf. Definitely on the calendar for July - my sunglasses, shorts and knees are all on standby. Do bring the geese...
