Are you a ...?Published authorWhat genre do you primarily write in?TravelIf you write in more than one area, what is your next most favoured genre?ComedyAre your reading habits ...?Involve robots and/or elvesWho is your favourite author(s)?Tolkein, Danny Wallace, Tony Hawks, Katherine Kerr, Jean M. AuelAnd your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)The Lord of the Rings, Yes Man, Round Ireland with a Fridge, The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, Daggerspell, Don't Tell Mum I Work on the Rigs (she thinks I'm a piano player in a whorehouse). What are your working habits when you write?ProcastinatoryAre you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?Ten times? Why so little?Your ultimate writing ambition? To do for my genre (comedy travel narrative) what Terry Pratchett did for Fantasy - to attract millions of otherwise mainstream readers and people who never normally read books, using my humour. Or some kind of mass hypnosis. Either way works for me.Your worst habit?Well, I generally don't wear underwear. And I'm tough on clothes - goes with being an adventureholic. So my worst habit (and I'm not really sure I should be saying this here) is that, just sometimes, my testicles hang out of the holes in my trousers.Your opinion on the books industry? It is a tough game, but everyone does their bestWhere do you write?Everywhere! What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?I LOVE LIFE! I'm an adventureholic. I love snowboarding, climbing (walls, trees and public monuments), parkour/free-running, martial arts and diving. I'm spiritual, cheerful, annoyingly positive, occasionally funny and the self-appointed King of Modesty.

by Charlie 1 year agoI'm glad you found it useful, Tony. I was just wondering if I'd put you off with the amount of stuff in there. I've been on blogger since 2004. My blog is in its third or fourth incarnation and currently offline as I'm still not happy with it. I started it as a diary and then got bored writing about my life as a housewife and mother (plus writing about the kind of stuff that does get me fired up tends to also get me into too much trouble - either virtual or real life).
At the moment I'm changing the whole thing yet again and aiming to get a few posts together so I can do the whole regular posting schedule. Unlike you, though, I haven't found a niche for it and that's actually the thing bugging me the most.
Anyway, I researched all this when I set up my own blog (and then kept up with the changes happening online) but life got in the way, my focus turned to writing fiction and blogging was yesterday's fun.
It's only recently that I've been taking it more seriously again but it's now competing for time with a larger family and my fiction writing.
If you think it'd be useful I'll think about posting it on the cloud as a blog. I might have to make it more general though - what do you think?
Oh and if you haven't had enough, you can have part III in a few days, let me know. -
by Charlie 1 year agoHi Tony, hope you found Part II useful. Let me know if you're trying any of it what worked for you and what didn't.
