by charmed-imsure 2 years agoI can understand written Norwegian, I've learned that through the subtitles on TV!!! I just can't speak it. Every time I try it comes out wrong. Most people here are fluent in English and don't mind showing off their skill at it. I'm in Bjornevatn near Kirkenes airport, closer to the Sydvaranger Gruve...

by Thrombosis 2 years agoOh, you are not a Norwegian. Sorry:) And I write and speak nynorsk, so I will be twice as hard understanding ... Welcome to Norway. Hope you enjoy it. Where abouts do you live?

by charmed-imsure 2 years agoJeg snakker ikke Norsk! (not yet anyway!). And I agree, it is funny to see another person from Norway on here :-)
Thank you for your warm welcome.
I adore Norway, not so keen on Oslo though but since I've lived in such a remote place with no neon signs etc, I think it was a shock to be in a city again! -

by charmed-imsure 2 years agoI'd love to go on the Hurtigurti, (as it's affectionately known) but it's remarkably expensive. About £100 per person per day just for food alone! As much as I'd want to experience it, I'd rather not pay that amount. That doesn't include drinks which are terribly expensive anyway, a pint in Norway anywhere is the equivalent of around £7, glass of wine about £12.
It is a very beautiful country but you do pay to live here. -
by Mcallan 2 years agoHi again, yes I have been on that fjord cruise the day after we hiked up to the top!

by Khaloth 2 years agoI remember sitting deep in the woods, watching the flickering veil pulse across the heavens. I wondered what it was hiding from me, or was it hiding me from something ? I thought i saw things move behind it, things that shouldn't be. I dont know how i found my back home, but i woke up in the morning in my own bed shaking with dread. I hated the northen light for years afterwards.
The lesson is: Don't mix homemade alcohol, pizza and northern light.
