Information
  • Are you a ...?
    Unpublished writer (so far)
What genre do you primarily write in?
    Other non-fiction
If you write in more than one area, what is your next most favoured genre?
    Crime
    Are your reading habits ...?
    Sophisticated
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
Blueprint for a Prison Planet by Nick Sandberg
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
All books (and documentaries) by Kevin Bales, Michael Moore, John Perkins, Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Eric Schlosser. . . For pleasure, I love all short stories: especially by modern-day women, like Alice Adams. For vacation, I read The New Yorker.
What are your working habits when you write?
    Procastinatory
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
    Ten times? Why so little?
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
To help people connect the dots . . . to understand that organized crime means the government, the police, and the politicians, working together, running the child pornography industry. To show how America stays number one for raping and killing children
    Your worst habit?
My worst habit is profound depression, and rage, at living in the most evil country. I'm not hopeful enough that people will revolt against the injustice system here, which also steals and destroys children from other countries. I want a happy ending!
Your opinion on the books industry?
Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through
    Where do you write?
At home, at the library, and in the park.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
Like you, I work hard to take care of our family. My husband and I have been together for thirty years. We have two daughters, aged 22, and 16. We want our children and all children protected from predators who rape and kill children. We want justice.

    Dear Harry,

Thank you for writing. I appreciate it.

I enjoyed the discussion on whether or not the truth was allowed these days by non-fiction writers! So yes, as long as you don't anger the criminals themselves? That's funny.

We trimmed the book doctor's salary by half; the $2,000. deposit will have to suffice for her valued, and educated opinion on the art of story telling, and her overall view of the big picture. I'm looking forward to her notes. She only knows general information about the topic, which is great, in case there is a frequently asked question that I haven't heard before.

She can't change the facts, and she didn't mention anything about changing names to protect the guilty, which was never my intention. These men wrote themselves, then they wrote the laws to protect themselves.

I understand that I'll need an agent to protect me from the publishers. My subject matter requires a certain amount of morals, and bravery, and maybe, as discussed in your forum, I'll have to make my own company, and self publish to avoid being sued, which doesn't scare me, either way.

I'm reducing the vital information to a one hour lecture in additon to, or instead of, a published book, and I'd like to run it by any interested readers/writers here, if I may. Back to what are the rules about names?

Thanks for clarifying about the book doctor's price and place.

    Sincerely,

    Maggie

    Hi Maggie

Hope it works out with that book doctor. On the whole, we at the Writers' Workshop have some scepticism about the $4000-to-fix-my-book approach. It's always in the book doctor's interest to sell that service, but often the client can do most of the work themselves if given appropriate direction ... and $4000 won't, in fact, buy very much structural alteration if structural alterations are needed (as they often are).

But the best book docs work well - and if the raw material is strong then they can work very well. Hope it works out. You might want to touch base with the Writers' Workshop if you have difficulty getting an agent once the book is done. I'm sure we'd be able to advise ...

    Welcome to the Cloud
