by Gerry 1 year agoHave just had a look at your background and synopsis. Could be very interesting. Am wondering about the tone. Will it reflect the cheery person I see in your dog photo and read about in your 'What else do you want Word Clouders to know' section? I ask because the topic might be a bit heavy if not given light and shade.
Personal testimony: I was involved with a charismatic prayer group in the 1980's but never felt any damage because I was always light hearted about it (which does not mean dismissive, just relaxed). I've met others since who felt distinctly unhappy. Playing with fire, I guess. In my case, a smile seemed a good prophylactic against burns. -
by Spangles 1 year agoOh yes, you are close! We used to live in Brookland, which would have been even closer. Rye is a great setting for a book - so many interesting people and so many interesting places. And the perfect location, of course, for the film or TV adaptation of your novel!
Have you thought of joining the Romantic Novelists Association? It might sound as though it's full of women looking like Miss Marple but actually it's a vibrant and very lively group. And it takes men as well as women. I joined this year under the New Writers' Scheme, which involves having one's manuscript assessed. I'm going to the conference next month and, judging from what I've been hearing, I can only hope that my liver holds out!
I will take a look at your posting if I get the chance, but I'm in the final throes of writing my own novel, which makes it very difficult to concentrate on anything else. I haven't even read any books since mid April, which is most unlike me. -
