Blaze was sitting on the grass one day under the huge chestnut tree thinking. Blaze thought about things a lot. Like how she got here, why they sent her here and why did Chris bother to teach her. When Blaze thought, she became wrapped up in herself for hours at a time. You see Blaze was different than everybody else in this realm. She wasn't an angel nor was she a demon. But yet she wasn't human. When she first woke up in the field of poppies, when Chris first found her, she couldn't speak because she simply didn't know what to say.So she cried. Nobody knew who or what she was, she had no wings, no tattoos, nothing to identify a race. Chris took her in and showed her the way things worked.Chris was an angel, he had beautiful white feathery wings, bright blue eyes and curly mousy blonde hair. After some time Blaze grew a deep affection to Chris, she was eager to please but made mistakes quite often.
Chris was intrigued by this little girl in the beginning. He did everything he could to make her comfortable in his home. He hoped that if she learned to trust him and settle in that she would speak. It took a month before she spoke.
Blaze found it hard to settle into this new realm, with these beautiful Angels with their beautiful white wings and there bright eyes. She found it hard to fit in with the mysterious demons with their sharp black wings and dark attitudes. She didn't even try fit in with the humans because she knew that would be impossible. When Cris was sure that Blaze had settled in he set to work teaching her the magic of this realm; how to fly, how to heal and how to grow things. Then one day Chris found Blaze in the garden, practising the powers that she already had. It's easy to guess what her dominant power was given her name. So when Chris found her dancing with long streams of flames twisting around her body as the ground beneath her ignited into carpet of flames; he panicked slightly. Chris freaked out and poured a massive bucket of water over Blaze. Needless to say that did not go down well with Blaze.
"It's ok Blaze I'm coming." Chris yelled as he threw the water over her. There was a huge splash! sound and a scream as the cold water shocked Blaze. "Chris?! What the hell?!" She shouted. "You were burning. . .there was fire everywhere." He said. Blaze stood there for a second, water dripping everywhere and then she closed her eyes and took a breath. "Watch me Chris. Look." She smiled and then the flames returned twisting and climbing up her body branching off around her arms. The flames wrapped themselves around her arms and transformed into orbs in the palms of her hands. Blaze sent them floating off her body and Chris stood there gaping as the two orbs exploded into into a flaming dragon. More flames made their way up Blaze's body and turned into the ribbons of flames that twisted around her before as she started to dance again. Then Chris heard a hissing. The hose where he had gotten the water burst and the jets of water flew towards Blaze. They danced around her aswell as she moved her arms in an intricate motion. When the flames died down and the water went back into the hose, Blaze had dried off completely and Chris was left there eyes wide and jaw slack. "Now Chris if you ever throw a bucket of water over me like that again I won't be happy." She grinned. He just nodded and walked back inside. Then Blaze saw the damage of her actions. There were scorch marks everywhere on the lawn and some of the flowers had burned black. She ran inside after Chris. "I'm sorry about your garden I can fix it." She said desperately. "It's not the garden." He mumbled and then he clicked his fingers and the garden was back to normal. "Why didn't you tell me you could do that?" He asked angrily. "I-You, you didn't ask." She countered. "You should have told me. Do you know how dangerous you could be?" He snapped. "Well if that little bit freaked you out then maybe you should know the whole truth." She said quietly. She took a deep breath and took a few vases and spoons into the garden. Chris followed. Blaze stood in the middle of the garden surrounded by her objects. She closed her eyes and clenched her fists. The glass vases and the steel spoons shattered into tiny pieces. She flung her arm out and they exploded.  Then she opened one eye carefully to see how much unexpected damage was caused. The vases and spoons had been reduced to a pile of dust at her feet, the little garden shed had exploded and a few tiles off the roof had come off. "Shit." She mumbled. "Chris I'm sorry, I didn't mean to blow up your shed. But I'm going to tell you now, that isn't half the damage that I could've caused. I can do a hundred times worse than that. But I won't intentionally, sometimes it happens by accident." She said looking at Chris. After that shocking day Chris softened up to Blaze and even though she had a good few "accidents" in the event where Blaze had blown up/set fire to things like Chris's garden shed. The shed got most of the accidents because if Blaze could catch herself quick enough she aimed it for the shed instead of some innocent person or valuable object. People saw her accidents and they gave Blaze a wide berth. When this started happening, Blaze went to Chris's attick where she stared at herself in the antique full length mirror for an hour straight. She asessed herself very carefully, taking note of all the things that made her different. Blaze saw her long auburn hair; most angels had light brown or blonde hair. She saw her dark blue eyes, they sometimes shone purple in firelight. Angels had bright blue or shale grey eyes. Her fire pendant necklace, her water bracelet. Then she turned around and pulled down her top; on her back were scars from a distant memory. She pulled her top back up and went to her room. Where she thought about everything that has happened to her, she came to the conclusion that nine out of ten things were her fault.  Which brings us back to Blaze's thinking. The more Blaze thought about things the more she was able to focus. This put her mind off her powers and accidents. A leaf fell from the tree and landed in her hair. She picked it up and sent it flying away. She eventually came to realise that combining her original powers and what Chris had taught her she was basically a one girl army. All she had to do was unlock her powers and watch the destruction unfold around her.  She spent every waking moment trying not to do that though. That's why the elders sent her away, she lost control completely and destroyed half of her realm. She honestly didn't see it coming, didn't know she was losing it until it was too late. It truly wasn't her fault. There was an instigator involved, he hurt her, made her lose her temper and that was that, she had killed him and destroyed half of the realm in the process. A tear rolled down her cheek at the memory. At that moment she heard a strange rustle in the tree. It wasn't like the sound the wind made when it blew the leaves. Something was up there. Blaze stood up and peered into the leaves. Then it hit her. Literally.
"Sorry. I'm so sorry. Hey are you ok?" He asked worriedly. It took Blaze a minute or two to realise that a boy had just landed on top of her. "Um yeah I'm ok, would you mind gettin' off me though?" She asked. He jumped back off her and Blaze stood up and brushed the dead autumn leaves off her skirt. "I am so sorry um. . .?" He started. "Blaze ." She said distractedly. They both heard a boom in the distance and Blaze looked down. "Chris is gonna just love that." She mumbled. The angel just looked confused, then Blaze really noticed him, he wasn't an angel or a demon or human. He had one white wing like Chris and one black wing like a demon. He had deep violet eyes lined with black eyeliner. He had jet black hair that stuck out in a couple of different directions. "Nice to meet you Blaze, I'm Shadow, and you're staring at me." He trailed off. Then he sighed and said "I'm a hybrid, half angel, half demon. I'm not a threat to you and I'm guessing you caused that boom a few minutes ago."  "Ok." Was all Blaze could say before she turned on her heels and ran.  Looking back she never knew why she ran away from Shadow it was just a spur of the moment decision.
"Chris?" She called as she bolted through the front door. He ran down the stairs to her. "Yeah?" "Shadow, he. . .he's a hybrid."  She stuttered. "Yes Blaze, Shadow is a hybrid, he's a very nice kid, hard worker." Chris stated. "Oh, so he's not...bad?" Blaze said. Chris shook his head but before he could say much more Blaze bolted out the door and ran. She ran back to the tree where she met Shadow. He was still there sitting in the exact same spot that she'd laid. "I'm sorry." She mumbled to Shadow as she sat down beside him.
He shrugged and handed her a bag. "You left this behind, when you ran." He said. Blaze took it and lay down. "What's it like having uncontrollable power?" He asked. "It's tiring and upsetting and I hate it." She replied "Yeah I'd feel the same, I find it tough just being a hybrid. People stare, they assume things. I hate being stared at." He said lying down. "I'm sorry that I stared at you, it's just I've never seen a hybrid before." Blaze apologised. "It's ok Blaze I've never seen a. . .whatever you are before either." He laughed.  "I'm a tradgedy didn't you hear?" She said darkly. Blaze and Shadow talked until dark. Shadow took Blaze home. Shadow and Blaze bonded over the way they were both different and didn't belong. Because Blaze started spending a lot more time with Shadow, the garden shed got a break. Shadow came to know Blaze so well that he was able to stop Blaze from losing control. One night Shadow took Blaze out to a huge clearing with a big pond. He showed her his powers. Unlike Blaze, Shadows powers weren't related to his name. Shadow could use the moonlight much the same way as Blaze used fire, as a weapon and a play-thing. Blaze showed Shadow her fire dancing and how she could dance on the water. They were both enchanted by each others gifts. They danced with each other all night. They fell asleep in the clearing under a tree. Blaze kept them both warm with the heat she radiated.  When Shadow woke up that morning, blaze was cuddled up with her head on his chest and her fingers clinging to his shirt. He smiled.
Blaze came round a few minutes after that. She smiled and stretched. "You talk in your sleep." She teased. "Oh really? What did I say?" He countered. "You said that Blaze is the queen of the world and that you are gonna buy me pancakes and soda for breakfast." She beamed. He laughed and bowed. "Of course your majesty." He joked.  Everything was great and happy, until they got back to Blaze's house.

Hi Jess, Just to let you know, 1) If you would like some comments on your work, the best place to put it, is in the critique section. Go to the forum tab at the top, and one of the first entries is critique, go into that and just follow your nose (although don't be afraid to ask if you need further help) and 2) If you want your blog to show on the main page under blogs, you need to make it public. Go into edit, and change your settings so that everyone can see it, that's if you want them to of course - grin! It's a little long for me to read. I only read short posts these days, but there are others out there that will read it. By the way if you keep the blog private, it will only be accessible through your profile. Hope that helps.
