  • What genre do you primarily write in?
    Who is your favourite author(s)?
Clive Barker, Stephen King, James Herbert, Dean Koontz
And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
Hard question. May need some time to think about that one. Clive Barkers Coldheart Canyon would definitely be there though.
What are your working habits when you write?
Are you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?
    Ten times? Why so little?
    Your ultimate writing ambition?
For people to like what I write.
    Your worst habit?
For legal reasons It's probably best not to comment. I assure you I'm not an axe murderer, um, hippies and students would probably confess to this habit too. My excuse is that it helps with the writing process and I'm sticking to it!
Your opinion on the books industry?
Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through
    Where do you write?
At home in a small and overfilled room.
What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?
I particularly despise that genre described as 'Chick-lit'. Bleurgh. Not that I want to offend anyone- I'm just not into it.

I'm a mechanical engineer from N.E Scotland who is obsessed with writing, reading and cars. At the moment I'm dreaming of summer and the opportunity to get my Austin mini (a proper one-not of the BMW variety) back on the road. He is terribly afflicted by tin worm. His name is Bob; inspired by that satanic ditty 'Bob the builder', except it goes a little something like this;

Bob the B*sta*d,
Can we fix it?!
Not bloody likely

I should mention I rescued Bob when he was stripped out for stock car racing- I only bought him because a woman in floral leggings wanted to buy him. He came complete with a forged M.O.T; I know this because I discovered a fred flintstone type hole under the carpeting beneath the pedals. Nice
* Thankfully, they make those new certificates now; they can't be doctored with hairspray and a hair-dryer

Happy Birthday, J - I keep forgetting who you are (still think of you as your earlier name) - so this must be J's first birthday. Hope it's a goodie. Are you taking a car apart to celebrate? Is Bob quaking in his brake shoes?
