Are you a ...?Writer published in mags, etcWhat genre do you primarily write in?ComedyIf you write in more than one area, what is your next most favoured genre?Sci-fiAre your reading habits ...?OmnivorousWho is your favourite author(s)?JG Ballard, Iain (M) BanksAnd your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)Too much to choose from but love lots of Wilde, Iain (M) Banks, Beckett, Joe Simpson, Ballard, ee cummings, Charlie Brooker, Pullman and other bits, apart from poetry. I lied about ee cummings to sound good. What are your working habits when you write?ProcastinatoryAre you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip?Prefer to let rip and edit afterwardsYour ultimate writing ambition? To be able to write for a living, of course!Your worst habit?Finding everything I write wonderful and expect others to feel the same way, then getting annoyed when they don't, before finally seeing it from their perspective, only to realise that what I wrote wasn't that bad after all. Or was awful.Your opinion on the books industry?Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get throughWhere do you write? In the corner of the front room, like a loiterer. What else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering? My life is very uninteresting, apart from all the chaotic, lively bits.

by Magictorch 1 year agoHi there,
Myself and two friends also write sketches and are expriencing similar problems to yourself re: where to send our work. We are from Sunderland and our humour has quite a North East flavour (well, we take the piss out of Cheryl Cole), let me know how you get on and maybe we can swap contacts/tips etc. What d'you think?
You can see a few of our sketches on the Comedy Sketch Group page - 'Pub Landlord', 'Back of the Net' and 'Marriage Guidance Couple'. All the best. -
by maxxiboy 1 year agoStill struggling with knowing where to post things. I just joined a group; where do I actually post comments? I can't seem to do it. This always happens.......!

by maxxiboy 1 year agoHello karen55!
I suppose I'm the odd one out, not really being a wannabe novelist, even if I am actually mid-way through my first novel. I just find I work best in snippets. I'm a snippety kind of bloke...good luck with the huge, sweeping novel though! -
by karen 1 year agoHello Maxxiboy!
I don't write comedy, but I love comedy - Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Thin Blue Line, anything really as long as it makes me laugh! I am the opposite though, I'm writing the huge, sweeping novel and including little snippets of comedy!
Keep writing! -
by Kiki 1 year agoNormally to reply, you click on the person's wall (well I do) but I saw your text in the notifications anyway so all is well. I'm just learning how to write scripts (self taught) and have dabbled in comedy but if you look under groups you'll find a group suitable for your good self. Anthony writes for tv if that helps :)

by maxxiboy 1 year agoAnyone else out there who writes sketch-based comedy? Looking for like-minded souls who create things in crazy snippets rather than huge, sweeping arcs (although I'm working on my huge, sweeping novel, also).

by maxxiboy 1 year agoHiya, BlueDiamondMist. Yeah, just down the road. Although I am from the Boro but now live just past it in Saltburn, which is a great place to write about (in both good and bad ways!).
Looking forward to meeting all you wonderful fellow-writers on here :) -

Its a nice place to meet on here, and get great advice (if you need it).

by maxxiboy 1 year agoHey Kiki, thanks. Just spent the last ten minutes wondering how to reply....god, I'm dense when it comes to negotiating new sites. Anyway, this looks like a good site. Can't believe it's taken me this long to join a writers' forum!
