What genre do you primarily write in?FantasyIf you write in more than one area, what is your next most favoured genre?HorrorAre your reading habits ...?OmnivorousAnd your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)Artemis Fowl No Time For Goodbye Relentless The Picture of Dorian Grey Angels and Demons Shades Children HolesWhat are your working habits when you write?Perfectly balancedAre you the edit-every-sentence-ten-times type, or do you prefer to let rip? Some self-editingYour ultimate writing ambition? To publish the majority of my current 66 book ideas. (Very ultimate)Your worst habit?I write so fast when I have an idea I make hundreds of really stupid and embarrassing grammar and spelling mistakes.Your opinion on the books industry? It is a tough game, but everyone does their bestWhat else do you want Word Clouders to know? eg: do you have 9 cats / like paragliding / eat nothing but tinned fish / work in the bath / live in Kettering?I dream to become a world class author (very unlikely) but I also want to be a astrophysical research scientist (more probable) at the same time. I have a website www.ejbarton.co.uk.

by Weens 2 years agoI've had a bit of a ropey week actually, but I'm going to my folks over the weekend, so a bit of TLC will do me the world of good.

by Weens 2 years agoHow's it going EJ? Are you enjoying Uni life? I'm doing a course with the OU and have got onto a couple of forums. I can see how much you can get sucked in if you let it. Nothing wrong with being sucked in, as long as you are enjoying it and getting your work done. Are you getting chance to write though? That's the only thing about writing. It is very solitary.

by Kit 2 years agoWell halls was a shock but I was still able to keep in contact with all my 6th form friends. We still meet regularly, even now we've gone our separate ways. Adapting to London was one of the harder things, so many people all in the same environment yet no-one'll speak to each other and everyone's tense. I'm just speaking about the commuting and rush hour atmospheres, being a student is so much more enjoyable. The tubes will be your salvation and there are plenty of places in London to spend a quiet moment away, I built up quite a collection of my own favourite spots. My advice is to get a student oyster card and a young persons national rail card. Buy monthly, or even quarterly travelcards for your oyster and you can use the tubes as much as you want and whenever with no added rush hour penalty and with a student oyster there's a huge discount. There may be some times, particularly in your first few months when you'll just want to get back to your routes and away from the crowded city so the railcard helps. It's also nice to go see your friends in other uni's from time to time.
I'd definitely head upto Green Park for some tranquility, I used to just lie there for hours drawing and it was bliss. Let me know if you want any info on travel / places / fun etc. -

by Kit 2 years agoYep. I lived in halls for my first year and then was booted out into the accomodation-seeking nightmare that is London hehe. Halls was.... interesting since I come from a very small, quiet out of the way village. You can imagine the trauma of suddenly leaving for a year to go to the capital. That said I did meet some good people both on my course and in halls, one of which I'm going to live with in Bournemouth for my final year. I would say halls is a great way to be taken out of your comfort zone and since everyone there is in the same boat meeting people is sooooo easy and you'll soon forget any worries. Anyway enough babbling... so are you and a bunch of friends going to the same uni? (Assumed since you said you'd later get a house with some friends)

by Kit 2 years agoAh a fellow scientist. I studied Crime Scene and Forensic Investigation for a foundation degree and off to Bournemouth for a third year to get my full BSc. You going to live in halls of residence?

by Weens 2 years agoWell done you, onwards and upwards. You know what they say about slow starters. Remember the tortoise and the hare?
