I don't think you can love too much but you can love the wrong person too much. There's nothing more painful than loving someone more than anything and not having even a sliver returned in your direction. Or putting all the effort into a ...

And in response to Harry's lovely comments about my writing, I must point out that my writing voice has evolved as a direct result of WW critiques, WW advice, WW courses and WW festivals! I paid for a WW critique of the first eight or so chapters of ...

Sorry to arrive to all this so late - though as Skylark knows, I've been doing my bit behind the scenes! - but one of the key messages from that first agent's rejection is in danger of getting a bit lost. SL has a brilliant, natural, warm, confident ...

I agree with Whisks. The top one made me think too much along the lines of holiday romance rather than murder in paradise. Like the change of title :-)

If I know you, you'll already have got your MS out the next agent/s by now, but just wanted to say how sorry I am that this agent wasn't the one for this novel in the end. Had a much smaller scale version of this myself which only involved one ...

Impatient patience - yep, that's me! I'm still in the huge, generic, everyone's-welcome waiting room. I'm the person sitting next to the door of the next, smaller waiting room with my foot firmly wedged in so that they can't shut it on me. I've had ...

About

I live on the edge of the Peak District NP with my husband, 2 sons (4 and 1) and dog. I work 2 days a week as a Primary School Teacher and in my spare time (!) I'm attempting to edit my children's novel. Slow progress - hoping to finish it sometime before the next century...

Hope this new chapter is OK - it sort of feels like I've hit my stride with Rurik now. Just got to go back to revisit the prologue and first chapter to bring it up to the same standard...assuming it works for most folk of course!
    Enjoy.

I can give a brief synopsis of the plot, there are two main unfolding plotlines

1- Celes learns to use magic, though he is very afraid of his own immense power, and there is little actual magic in the novel. He also discovers the intrigues of Asgard, known as the Kingdom Lights because by night it shines magically :)

2- A man named Lord Brandon is imprisoned for starting a rebellion but is brought to Asgard to be executed. He is rescued by the son of a former follower of his who seeks to bring back the Wardens and destroy Asgard. Brandon however stops the follower and tells him that is not what the Wardens were about and all they ever wanted was liberty, not destruction. It is implied lies were spread about the Wardens after they fell.

The plot follows Celes trying to unravel the Warden plot, all the while thinking Brandon is true antagonist and he is built up as such during the novel. In the end seeing that Brandon is actually a good person and realizing he may not be the villain that he is painted as, lies to the Asgardians and allows Brandon to escape.

i hope that sates your intrigue :)

Thanks for you comment, any comparison to HP is always going to be a compliment, though I don't think i'm half the writer JK Rowling is and it would be absurd to think I was!

I see as it as carrying on the spirit of storytelling -

Harry and Dumbledore - Frodo and Gandalf - Arthur and Merlin - Perseus and Athena all the way back to the beginning of time.

But no, my story is very different to Harry's :)
