    Reading and thinking when I should be writing.

    Too much celebrity and hype, but good books still get through

    I love two things I do badly - not including writing that is. Gardening and cooking veg, Malayalee style. I am a 74 year-old waiting anxiously to grow up. Still time??

    Anand, just wanted to wish you luck, I hope the magic word comes very soon. I think it's amazing that you're still waiting to grow up - what a brilliant way to live your life! I always hope that even as I get older, my heart won't age a single day.

    Interesting choice of authors too, I must admit I could never quite get to grips with Rushdie. But then at the time I was reading him, I was very disillusioned with the whole world of literature. Might give him another try.
