  Being so responsive to the tone of whatever I am reading at the time of writing that when looking back over a first draft I seem to have a record of my reading habits.

  In a corner, preferably on a bean bag, away from prying eyes. Or in a field, a quiet field, where the tall corn curtains off the world.
