And your all time favourite books? (You can change these at any time, by the way ...)
I've still not got over reading I Am The Cheese by Robert Corimer when I was about 13. Damn, I wish I'd written it. Otherwise, too many books to mention.

Hah hah! Yes, I have this. Sometimes I even play a game where I guess what the next words will be when I turn the page. It's surprising (or it is?) how often I can get ti right. I think it can be a reflection of good writing, that we are drawn ...

Hi Squidge, I totally feel your pain. My teenage MC had (has?) a very similar problem. Firstly, she was often an onlooker to the action, rather than the prime mover, and secondly, I realised I didn't know what was fundamentally driving her. Her ...

Ah, great blog. It feels, doesn't it, like trying to scale a monstrous (but beautiful) citadel, where the air becomes ever more rarified and the fall ever higher. But, we take our courage in our hands....

"Philippa" commented on Penworthy's Blog "Still Baffled After All These Years".
I agree. I think there's a spectrum. If you want to write a "best-seller", you sort of have to write to order. A 'best-seller' crime novel needs to have this kind of style, these kind of characters, these many twists. Standardised for the masses? At ...

Oh wow, this is so wonderful, though I'm sorry the most important people aren't there to share. I hope they can still see your success from a new place though. It just goes to show how much chance plays a part. Or rather, (as I like to think) that ...

Wow! I've just read all four blogs. What a journey! HUGE congratulations. I believe Juliet is a FANTATIC agent. I'm so thrilled you've landed her, and well done for giving yourself great leverage with getting the publishing interest. Must admit my ...

Interesting question Natasshe, and I understand your dilemma. The type of stories I naturally write are not womag at all, but I agree that being able to writing to a brief, be adaptable, get in print and earn money are positive accolades. If I ...

I've only just stumbled upon this thread and it made interesting reading. My daughter (almost 15) has Asperger's. She is high functioning which puts her at odds with just about everyone. Of course the kids at school have picked up on this quirkiness ...

Definitely. Tickets all booked over easter. Now I have to fight the crippling fear I won't get my current book to the right level before September.
I've been on here since last year, to be honest. I just never get on. I need to engage with people more.
