I like the idea of a novel where the colour scheme is 'wrong' in the way you said you painted as a child. Just a matter of being consistent throughout. Like a lot of children brought up on tv and the movies I thought the world was black and white ...

Haha. Maybe I do need to re-interpret how I view the level of fluid in my glass! That looked like Cyprus to me - Mediterranean blue - otherwise I wouldn't have made my anti-romantic attempt at humour.

Well, hope you get back to that novel sometime in the future. :) Meanwhile, let your fertile imagination fully loose on those other projects!

@Tony - I was south of the Seine for this research but saw the Sorbonne on a previous visit (it is magnificent). @Jill - THAT novel has been superceded at the moment by some other projects.

This photo has brought back memories of a few days spent in Paris some years ago. Well composed scene. Must have been an interesting and, perhaps, fun place in which to research. Is the novel complete or still a wip>

I thought that was the Seine. Me, too, David. I got to see all around the Sorbonne.

"David" commented on Scarlett's Blog "Does your character have a lie?".
What you seem to be talking about is self-deception, i.e. the character is lying to themself. There is an interesting concept of the 'unreliable narrator', someone telling a story who we can't trust because their information or perspective appears ...

About

Worked as a professional journalist for most of the 00s. Then moved into scriptwriting. I had a radio play and a short film produced, and was working on a pilot for a tv series when I decided to focus on my novel.

In the past I've also spent time as a musician. I played bass guitar in a few embarrassingly-named bands down the years: UGE, X-Amount, The Zens and Allandale.
