A prayer for Mrs Hooper

Published by: Nibs on 22nd Apr 2011 | View all blogs by Nibs

This blog isn't about me.

I'm writing this blog to request everyone who reads it to spare a thought and a prayer for Mrs Hooper who was a passenger in Denise's car along with Denises husband and both foster children as it skidded off the road and plunged into the depths of the lake whilst holidaying in mid Wales.
All but Denise perished in this terrible accident.
The story has even reached the national news.
Mrs Hooper had been a customer at my sisters hairdressers on Barry road for decades.
She was a deeply religious lady.
The fostered boys were well known and liked by everyone who knew them.
Denise's husband was also very well liked and loved.  It has been repeatedly and truthfully said that these were good kind people.
This accident has been a dreadful shock to fellow customers at the hairdressers and neighbours alongside the relatives and friends.

I'm also sure I don't ask too much of folk to send their love and healing prayers to Denise herself, to help her come to terms with it all.
And help her through this very sad time.
God Bless

Thanks
Nibs

Thank you, Nibs, for giving us this further insight to the tragic story we have seen in the news. It's so easy to allow such happenings to quickly fade from our memory, as we have no personal connection. Yet for Mrs Hooper it must be absolutely devastating, and through your blog we can, in some way, stand alongside Denise and her friends who have suffered such loss. It seems, from what you say, that the Hoopers were a Christian family. Whether or not that is the case, God can provide the comfort and strenghth to help Mrs Hooper in the days and months ahead, but Mrs Hooper will be more readily able to receive and benefit from that reassuring love if she already knows the Lord as her saviour. In any event, we can as you suggest, pray earnestly for Denise that she will be receiving the comfort she needs and be able to accept help to deal with her loss. May she feel surrounded and protected by love.

Ah, I think I've not made it clear enough who's who. Denise Griffith was the only surviver. Mr Griffith (her husband) and foster children along with Mrs Hooper (Denises mother) all sadly perished.

I'm sure Denise will be very grateful for all thoughts and prayers sent to her at this time.
I will be asking that she be placed in our healing book in my church as I'm sure many churches across the country will be doing similar even though they don't know them.
Because, that is one great thing about most of humanity, we care

    Thank you

This is so sad. When I first saw it on the news I could barely believe it. What I find really sad is that 1, they were having a great holiday in, was it the lake district or wales? Anyway, it was sunny and they were really happy, and then suddenly they went charging off of a cliff, killing 3 generations of the same family almost completely. Denise must be finding it unbearable right now. best wishes to her at this time.

This is just so sad. Denise will be in my thoughts too.

My friend's mum is very ill at the moment too. She collapsed on Monday (suspected heart attack) and she hit her head causing a bleed on the brain. She's had an op to stem the bleed but a scan reveals brain damage- thought to be in the memory part. Jackie (friend's mum) is still sedated and in intensive care but they are going to try and wake her to assess the brain damage. So far her heart is holding up. Vicky -my friend- is obviously devasted and the rest of us are in shock.

Sorry to highjack your blog, Nibs- I just wanted to get this off my chest and this seemed like the best place. I will be praying for Denise and Jackie.

What is this, The Easter holidays of doom? First Mrs Hooper, then Vicky's mum, and now I've just seen on the news about a kid who was found unconscious (and later died) in a paddling pool not far from where I live! If it carries on like this, I wouldn't get my hopes up about the royal wedding...

sorry Nibs about turning your blog into a discussion about terrible stuff happening. As I have all ready said my thought and wishes go to Mrs Hooper and her family.

There is no hyjacking of blogs on here. Everyone is welcome to talk about what ever is on their mind.
It just happened to be an appropriate place to voice your feelings. And I hope you feel a little better for writing it down.
remember this site is full of supportive folk. I am sorry to hear of the heart attack person. I pray she will come through this and make a full recovery.

Let the family know we are all praying for her.

OH dear. I didn't mean to start a doom and gloom blog.
Sorry to here about the little one drowned in paddling pool. The family must be beside themselves with grief.

I sincerely hope everyone had/ is having a good easter otherwise.
