I love that you stopped and that there was a happy outcome to this. Lucky bird indeed :-)

Stevie Damn but that's sad news. "Steering The Craft" is one of my go-to books on writing and 'The Lathe of Heaven' is one of those books thats stayed with me a long time.

RichardB One of my absolute favourite writers, humane, profound and poetic. 'Her words are always with us. Some of them are branded on my soul.' Neil Gaiman said that, and I'll second it.

Raine So sad about her leaving us. Such a beautiful writer who pioneered the way in weaving feminism into story and making it wonderful. And as for the Earthsea books ... they are my childhood, right there. :-(

Seagreen I'm ashamed to say I have the Earthsea books but haven't read them yet. Will hunt them out...

RichardB I didn't read Earthsea until I was about thirty, but they've stayed with me ever since, and every now and then I go back and re-read them. Magic, in every sense of the word.

Your comp entry made me squirm, Hilly. Started with the deep tongue exploration and the lack of dental hygiene. Yuck! Good work :-)
