Painful isn't it? But the whole submission process is so time and energy consuming, so lengthy and uncertain that it is essential to have other projects on the go for escape. When I am querying fiction, my creative writing stalls and I return to a ...

I really enjoyed this. I always fancied being a crane driver. The fulcrum and pivot of all building sites, at least when they know what they are doing. I bet that lonely crane operator appreciated those waves. Human contact. What we all need.

I Owe you a hot pokered mulled wine for your lovely comments. This you may redeem on any Saturday night in December, between the hours of 7.30pm and 9.30pm in The Black Bull Yarm High street. Wear a hi viz vest and wave dramatically for t'will be seasonally chocker, chuck. And me peepers ain't what they used to be.

Top Comp entry, yours. Struggling with the homework. Read and read again, your Desert Island Disks and more impressed each time. Can't think of a reason to have the MC as a guest. 'Our guest here today has been directly linked to three political assassinations and implicated in at least three more. He has also been linked with the deaths of at least four Russian military advisors in Sierra Leone, please welcome.....' Somehow greatest 'hits' seems to carry more than one context....
