Prince Charles against the pursuit of wealth

Friday, July 10, 2009

In my English dictionary there is the word CHUTZPAH which means brazen audacity. The chutzpah of the year award must go to Prince Charles. Here are excerpts from his recent Dimbleby lecture. "for all it's achievements our consumer society comes at an enormous cost to the earth and we must face up to the fact that the earth cannot afford to support it" He then went on to speak of "our rush to pursue unlimited economic growth and material wealth."

So Charles was speaking out against growth and the pursuit of wealth. This advise is a criticism of people who have an aspiration to better themselves and provide opportunities for their children. It comes from a man who spent £16,000 when using the royal train on a visit to Yorkshire at the end of June. A man who employs 145 people many of them to cater for his personal needs. A man who last year had an income of £18 million. Pass me the sick bag.
