This is where the waiting begins

I've just finished my new story. I have completed the fourteenth edit and printed it off for two people, whose judgement I trust, to read. This is where the waiting begins.

Sadly, they will not read it fast enough. When my sister read my first children's novel (all 75,000 words) she read it in one day and phoned me four times during that day to report back.  Now, that's my kind of reader! Alas, that was during the summer holidays and I cannot wait until then to ask her again and so I have asked two other tried and tested people but, like most of us, they are busy too.

In the meantime, I shall get stuck into the stockpile of chores that I have ignored over the last few months.

And I will wait, of course.

And how much would you like to bet that whilst you are waiting, you will spot further edits that need doing? (grin)

It's why I don't read my books after publication, I keep wanting to change them. If my editor didn't physically remove my stories from me, I fear editing might be a never ending process!
